David grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico and attended St. Michael’s High School.  He graduated with a degree in Economics/Finance from New Mexico State University in 1983 and completed one year of graduate work in business at NMSU before entering law school.  He moved to Albuquerque in 1984 to attend the University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Law. He stayed in Albuquerque after graduating in 1987 and began his legal career focusing exclusively on civil trial practice from day one.

The first eighteen of David’s nearly 30 years as a lawyer revolved around general civil defense work.  His trial focus and record of success resulted in David becoming head of the litigation department for one of the most prominent law firms in the Rocky Mountain Region.  He served as trial counsel to several Fortune 500 companies and a number of multi-national insurance carriers.  His practice centered on complex claims, including catastrophic loss, construction-defect cases, insurance bad faith, and products liability litigation.

In 2007 David decided to shift the direction of his practice, and put his considerable talent, knowledge and experience as a trial lawyer to use for those who had suffered injury or harm and needed quality representation in the face of the large insurance companies and corporations.  Representing everyday people and helping them recover the benefits they deserve is his passion.  Having seen both sides, he is uniquely qualified to advocate for his clients.

David has tried more than 120 cases throughout New Mexico in both state and federal courts.  He is one of the most experienced and respected trial attorneys in the state.  He has served on the board of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and is a frequent lecturer on trial tactics and techniques.  He holds the highest “AV”, 5 out of 5  rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has earned numerous peer awards including being named to Super Lawyers, Top One Percent, Preeminent Law Firms Martindale Hubbell, Best Lawyers in America, and Best Attorneys in New Mexico.

David and his wife Kirsten enjoy spending time with their children and extended family, their two beloved “Cavapoodle” dogs and taking advantage of the many cultural and recreational activities offered in the Land of Enchantment.
